December's theme

Well, December’s theme wasn’t a particularly hard one to pick, as it was IN MY FACE, but I didn’t capture as much of it as I would’ve wanted. There were times when I just didn’t have a camera on me, and then it was the malaise at the holiday itself, creeping ever closer, with me staying at home to avoid the insane crowds, and then finally my little family all catching you-know-what and missing out on the whole shebang. This theme would’ve lent itself well to a zoom lens, but the one I have is unfortunately too huge to lug around. So Santa, you know I don’t like you and all, but if you fancied dropping a small zoom lens off with me for next xmas, I’ll happily accept.

Jump start

Heeeeey. I think' it’s too late to say HNY by now, but I hope you’re as well as you can be? December kicked my butt (we all ended up with Covid over xmas - ho ho ho) and January is… January. Hard work. I feel eternally tired and find it tricky to spend any time not at home. I’m usually fine with hibernating, but this winter feels different. So, can we fake it ‘til we make it I wonder? Can I somehow trick myself out of this stupor? Well, in little over a week this wonderful human is coming to stay with us. Can’t really think of a better way to brighten up this toughest of months. What a treat.

Reflecting

My November theme was reflections, which I thought was going to be easy, but I actually ended up not having much to show for it. For some reason I didn’t want to shoot any pictures with mirrors, which made them much harder for to find (the reflection in the last picture is actually a toilet paper holder). I’m now glad I didn’t, as it leaves mirrors as a future theme 👍🏽

Walking on sunshine

Spent a weekend at my friend A’s recently, and as we all craved an autumnal walk, out we went for a 2hr walk in Thorndon Country Park in Essex, a county to the east of London. What a privilege to be able to be in nature, taking in the beautiful colours of autumn, with the bestest of friends. It doesn’t take much to make me happy - and bringing hot tea in a flask is just icing on the cake.
