I absolutely hate the internet and its bastard son AI. I don’t have to lay out their faults as we all know exactly what’s wrong with them. I try to keep them at bay as much as I can, mainly by coming off Instagram eight years ago and never deliberately using AI. I have internet-free Mondays (which I should really do on more days in the week), where I don’t go online, don’t reach for my phone in a quiet moment out of habit, and just get on with life, less interrupted. My brain loves it. But then, how do I blog, not wanting to contribute and be part of the problem? I know that this space is a bit different, and that my pictures sometimes bring you joy. And that maybe, in the face of the shit show that most parts of the internet is, you come here for a bit of respite, which I’m very grateful for. I don’t know how to balance this out, and in the scheme of things it’s not that important, but I just wanted to explain what I think about this - behind the scenes, and why I’ve been SO quiet this year. If I was more techie I’d move the blog over to a free platform, so I don’t have to care about paying for something I do so sporadically. Maybe I’ll look into it, or maybe I should continue in zine form, and stop publishing online?! Or create a newsletter? Hmmm. So this is where I’m at with My Funny Eye these days. I’m still here, probably thinking about it too much.
